Sainsbury's Dorridge

Planning Permission Granted - Thank You For Your Support!

Sainsbury’s plans for the comprehensive redevelopment of Dorridge’s Forest Court shopping precinct have been approved by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s planning committee.

We will now look to finalise the legal requirements before preparing a strategy to start on site. We will update the community in due course.

Our plans include:

  • A Sainsbury’s foodstore with a ground-floor sales area of 19,500sq ft (1,812sq m), similar to the size of the Sainsbury’s store at Mell Square, Solihull
  • An extended and refurbished doctors’ surgery
  • Seven smaller independent retail units, including new premises for the local pharmacy
  • An additional unit at ground and first floor level, earmarked for an independent restaurant
  • A cash machine facility
  • A 175-space car park to serve the centre of Dorridge, with an additional four dedicated spaces for the surgery doctors
  • A public square with a crossing, linking to the Arden Buildings
  • An enclosed service yard
  • Traffic calming measures on the surrounding road network
  • Landscaping around the site, with planting and benches in the public square

The development will create employment opportunities for local people, with a mix of positions available to suit all members of the community.

The additional facilities within the development will also provide opportunities for other businesses to come to Dorridge, further improving shopping and dining choice in the village centre and benefitting the local economy.

The improved local shopping offer will reduce the need for people to drive out to supermarkets in neighbouring areas, reducing travel time, fuel costs and related carbon emissions.
